Choosing the Best Dress Shoes for an Interview

by A Guest Author

These days, it seems corporate culture has shifted vastly from just a few decades ago. With the prevalence of young startup companies, it’s common to see a beer tap in the break room and pool table in the conference room. With the relaxed nature of many office jobs, business attire has also relaxed. Today, jeans are becoming more commonplace in the office, as are shorts and flip-flops. Still, while dressing up for work might not be the norm, when it is time to dress to impress, for a client meeting, interview or important sales call, it’s even more important to get it right. For men, there are a number of options at your disposal. And you don’t have to look like you got dressed out of your dad’s closet either. Here are some tips on how to pull off that perfect dressed up look.

  1. Just because you have to wear a tie one day doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Liven up your dress wardrobe with a bright tie. Choose a tie with lots of color or a unique design to set your self apart.
  2. When it comes to dress shoes men, you can’t go wrong with the classics. When choosing dress shoes for men be sure to go with something that you can pair with a wide assortment of items in your closet for maximum use. Black oxfords or brown loafers are a great choice. If you want a bit more bling for your buck, go for a decorated cap toe oxford dress shoe men – you’ll look like a million.
  3. If you feel like your mens dress shoes are a bit too dull, try jazzing them up with a pair of unique socks. Nothing stands out and gets you noticed like a bright pair of socks with black shoes, or a classic argyle patterned sock. Be creative and have fun with your footwear choices.
  4. We know men don’t carry purses, but when you’re trying to impress a client, carrying your backpack with your suit won’t likely get the job done. Instead, think about investing in a briefcase. Again, this doesn’t have to be reminiscent of your dad’s industrial sized case; today there are a number of classic leather brief cases to choose from. If it still seems too formal for your style, try a dark leather messenger bag on for size.

Do you have the time? Nothing says professional dress quite like a nice watch. Not only will you get to show it off when pointing to that power point presentation, you’ll actually know what time it is.
