5 Great Networking Apps

by A Guest Author

With the technology we have today, it’s easier than ever before to setup an event, find someone to go on a date with, or find out where and when your friends are going out. So why shouldn’t that convenience extend to the recruiting and networking world?

Fortunately, there are several apps out there that allow you to connect with other people, whether you’re looking for potential job applicants to interview or you just want to grab a drink with coworkers after a long day at the office.

Most of the apps listed below allow you to setup a profile, find other people nearby with the same interests, and easily connect with those people in a social setting. They all make it extremely easy to get out there and connect with others.

Here are five great networking apps:

  1. Shhmooze - This app helps you connect with other people at networking events by leveraging your network on LinkedIn and Twitter. It also integrates with Meetup and Eventbrite so you can see what events are going on nearby.
  2. Meetup - This app allows you to access more than 9,000 groups that plan local outings. You can easily find local people that share your interests and connect with them in a group setting.
  3. Sonar - By connecting with your Facebook and Foursquare profiles, this app allows you to connect with friends and friends of friends who have similar interests. The app tells you when people are nearby and lets you send private messages.
  4. Uberlife - This app makes it easy to meet up with friends and coworkers outside the office. It sets up auto-alerts to let your friends know when and where you will be out, allows you to follow your friends so you know when they’ll be nearby, and allows you to invite people to events via text and email.
  5. GiddyUp - This app allows you to connect with friends on your phone or social media networks. You can create and manage events and set up a group chat so you know who’s attending. You also can share events on Facebook and Twitter.

By using these five apps, you should easily be able to setup networking events and find out where your friends and coworkers will be after hours. You can also harness the power of these apps to meet new recruits and find the next great employee for your company.
