Community College To Ivy League Is The New Hope…And Here’s Why…

by Chad Agrawal

Community College To Ivy League HopeThere's a new hope for community college students, and that's to transfer from community college to Ivy League. Although many people chalk it up to a dream, hundreds of students are taking action and transferring to Ivy League and Tier One schools every year.

As a result, more students are recognizing the community college to Ivy League route as a legitimate, yet underrated, college path. And so are Ivy League and other top universities.

In the past, students would go to community college to perhaps get an associates degree and join the workforce. Since then, community college has evolved and now offers an incredible opportunity for many people who either didn't score top grades in high school or on their SAT's, or just want to save money. Through this modern path, students go to community college for 2 years, get their grades up, and transfer from community college to Ivy League universities. It's happening!

Today, we will be going over some of the major reasons why high school students and early community college students are shifting their goals to transfer from community college to Ivy League. We'll also look at why these students are choosing to challenge themselves instead of transferring to universities of less prestige.

Here are five reasons why more students are aiming for community college to Ivy League transfer acceptances...

1. Community Colleges Do Well In Recessions

In the hard recession, higher quality students opted for a cheaper route for their college education by going to community college first.

This resulted in higher quality students attending community college and studying harder than most of their fellow community college transfers. Over time, more and more serious students are found throughout community colleges, raising the bar for the college in general. All students tend to do better in an atmosphere with healthy competition.

And yes, these students who were Ivy League material to begin with ended up transferring to Ivy League universities from community college.

2. A Clean Slate For Transferring To Ivy League

Another reason why students could aim for community college to Ivy League transfer is that they could have totally messed up in high school, but now get a second chance to do things right.

If you knew you could have done better in high school if only it weren't for x, y, or z, then going to community college gives you the second chance you need. You can become a top student at community college, retake your SATs, and submit a transfer application that really depicts the person you are at that point in time (the student who deserves to transfer to Harvard), not the person you were in high school.

3. Community College Honors Programs

The rise in Community College honors programs shows that students are demanding high-quality education and that community colleges are responding to the demand with more rigorous 2 year college programs.

With the rise of community college honors programs, you have higher-quality education and community college degrees that are being offered in all parts of the United States. If you're considering community colleges in New York, I have to recommend SUNY Rockland Community College for their award winning honors program.

As a result, community college transfer students are more academically prepared and ready to take on the level of coursework  offered when going from community college to Ivy League

4. The Community College To Ivy League Secret Is Out

As more and more students transfer from community college to Ivy League, the word has spread like wildfire.

Where as community college to Ivy League might have been a little bit of a secret in the past, it is becoming more widely known as common knowledge that yes, you can transfer from community college to Ivy League.

Just the overall word of mouth networking effects from people talking about a local student from their town going from community college to Ivy League has contributed to the overall awareness and expectation to become an Ivy League transfer.
