Does everyone get into community college? It is supposed to be really easy right? Not exactly. Community colleges are great 2-year options for students to transfer to 4-year-colleges, including Ivy League and Tier 1 schools. However, they are still colleges that require an admissions decision, rejected or accepted.

Degree Requirements To Get Accepted
To get into community college, the majority of 2-year institutions require that you are a high school graduate or hold a general education diploma (GED). Without a high school diploma or GED, do not expect to get accepted at community college. Unless, you are earning community college credits in high school, this is a firm requirement.
Age Requirements For Consideration
Additionally, you must be at least 18 years of age to get into community college. However, this rule can have several exceptions so you may want to consider applying if you are a minor. Then, be sure to speak with an admissions counselor or program director on campus to discuss your eligibility.
Academic Competency For Community College
Lastly, you will have to take placement exams to determine your eligibility for certain classes. If you score well, you may have the option to pursue the local community college honors program. If you're not eligible, they offer courses and programs to get you up to speed quickly. After fulfilling the requirements, then you can get into community college as a full time student.
In a way, everyone does get into community college. But, it is not as simple as you might think. Community colleges are still a college education and should be taken sincerely.
