by Chad Agrawal

This has been a 3 post series looking at the advantages of going to community college. In the first post, 17 Little Known Benefits of Going To Community College, we expose the 7 immediate advantages of going to a community college. Then, in part 2, we revealed benefits 8-12, The Short Term Benefits of Community College.

In this post, we'll give you the long term advantages of a community college and the last benefits (13-17) to wrap up the series. These advantages will focus on after you have graduated from a 4-year-college.

Long Term Advantages of Community College

13. Perspective - Attending community college and a major university will give you a better perspective on people. You'll be able to recognize "real" or "fake" people much better. You'll also be more humble and down to earth by remembering your times at community college.

14. Time Management Skills - The time management skills that you hone at community college will not only carry you through university, but it will also serve you later in your career. Time management is often overlooked, but extremely necessary to anyone's success.

15. Employment Benefits - When recruiting for any job/position, having a different background or story to tell makes you unique. Your experiences at community college and university give you more ammo to use in an interview. Some students are hired just because the employer was so impressed by the jump they made from community college to Ivy League or Tier 1 universities.

16. Double The Network - Transferring from community college forces you to start over at university and meet new people all over again. While that may seem unattractive in the short term, it's very beneficial in the long run. Instead of having a network of friends from your alma-mater, you'll have that network plus all the friends you made at community college who went on to transfer to other great universities.

17. Better Future - As you continue in your career, it's important to remember that community college was the first step that paved the way for a successful future. Your future opportunities are build on the foundation that was built at community college.
