How to Get a Job as a Radiology Technician

Are you interested in the exciting field of radiology? You can become a radiology technician if you meet the right educational standards and the right requirements for licensing. There are several reasons why you should use these procedures if you want to become a radiology technician:

  • It will be easy for you to find a job. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics says that at least forty thousand new jobs in this field will open up by the end of the decade.
  • It is a position that allows you to help people with many medical needs.

What Does Your Education Have to Be Like?

Your education to become a radiology technician should involve several courses that begin in high school and then progress into a training program. You may also take these courses through a community college. The courses that you must take in order to qualify for a program include courses dedicated to the fields of:

  • Anatomy
  • Biology
  • Physics
  • Math
  • Computer technology
  • Chemistry

You should also use the right courses for your program. The courses in your program are made to give you an idea of how to use the technology in the workplace and how to analyze results. Your program should include courses dedicated to the following:

  • Radiation technology and management

Accreditation is Needed

You must make sure if you want to get a job as a radiology technician to receive your education through an appropriate venue. You can get accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists by graduating your program and passing the appropriate exam from the ARRT.

You also have to participate in the ongoing education standards that the ARRT wants you to follow. This is so you will understand what technologies you can use as they are introduced into the radiology field.

You may also have to pass certain standards for working as a technician in your state. You have to check with the local health board in your area to see what special rules you must follow.
